Why can't I hear the audio cues?
- Check Silent Mode: If your iPhone is in Silent Mode (the physical switch on the side is showing orange), system sounds like the "Tock" tick will be muted. Text-to-speech voices may still play, but the ticks will not. Please turn off Silent Mode for the full audio experience.
- Volume: Ensure your media volume is turned up.
How do the audio cues work?
Lifting Tempo uses a hybrid audio system to keep you focused:
- Time > 3 Seconds: You will hear a distinct "Tock" sound and feel a haptic tap for every second.
- Time ≤ 3 Seconds: You will hear a spoken countdown ("Three, Two, One") to prepare you for the phase switch.
My Apple Watch isn't syncing with my iPhone.
The app uses Apple's native Watch Connectivity. For the best sync results:
- Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your iPhone.
- Open Lifting Tempo on both your iPhone and Apple Watch at the same time.
- Any changes made to your Library (adding plans, deleting plans) will sync automatically.
Why does the app need Health access?
Lifting Tempo integrates with HealthKit to save your workouts as Functional Strength Training. This allows your lifting sessions to count toward your Apple Watch Activity Rings and track your heart rate and calories burned during the session. We do not share this data with anyone else.
Can I start a lift from the bottom (Deadlifts, Rows)?
Yes! When creating or editing a plan, you can change the Start Position setting.
- Start Top: For Squats, Bench Press, etc. (Starts with Eccentric/Lowering).
- Start Bottom: For Deadlifts, Pull-ups, etc. (Starts with Concentric/Lifting).
Troubleshooting Steps
If the app is behaving unexpectedly:
- Force Close: Close the app completely on your iPhone/Watch and reopen it.
- Restart: Restart your device.
- Updates: Check the App Store to ensure you are running the latest version of Lifting Tempo.
